XPS 410 cpu upgrading???
So before i buy im trying to figure out if a E6850 3.0Ghz with work with my PC. It has a E6300 1.86Ghz now. Ive upgraded to 4 gigs of ram and will be matching the 250Gig HD so i can do RADI0, also i recently installed a 9600GT graphics card. But i would like to upgrade the CPU. I already downlaoded the newest BOIS from dell but i cant seem to find any detailed info if this will work or if i should go with the E6750 2.66Ghz. Both the E6850 and E6750 are Conroe LGA775. Any help would be good.

The maximum Core 2 Duo is an E6700. The maximum Core 2 Quad is a Q6700. For anything higher than those you will need to buy a new computer. The BIOS and the voltage on the 410's motherboard will not support the processors you mentioned.

I have a Q6600 in my XPS 410 and love it.
Quads are best for multitasking, music and photo editing. Duos are best for gaming. However, I have found the Quad works nicely in both worlds when I'm gaming and running some background tasks (system backup, AV scan). Games don't skip a beat nor do the tasks!
