XPS 420 and Intel VT (Virtualization Technology)

Does anybody know if the new XPS 420 is fully supporting for VT (Virtualization Technology) ?. I'm planning to get a new one in order to run WMware workstation 6. I'm currently own a XPS 600 and this feature is disable and there is not way to enable it in the BIOS. I know that Dell solved the problem for the XPS 700 but never issued a new BIOS to solved it @ the XPS 600. Thanks.

That is a good question Napo2008.

I do know for a fact that some Dell Servers support Citrix XenServer Vituralization Technology, but as far as a SOHO desktop, I can not discern.

Thank for your reply. I'm trying to do some Labs and planning to install VMWare 6 and some ESX servers inside. I've already done the same lab on my XPS 600 but due to the lack of VT the ESX host server run very slow (almost unusable).
I was talking with Dell XPS support today and they said that the pre-production BIOS has the option to turn it on but they don't can confirm if the final production BIOS also has it.
If any in the forum has a XPS 420, please look for this option in the BIOS and please shed some light…. I'm waiting this confirmation to order my new XPS 420 ASAP.

All,

If you have a VT (Virtualization Technology) capable processor, the VT switch will show up in Setup under the Performance section. If the processor is not VT capable, the VT option in the bios is hidden.

Hi ChrisM

Thanks for your reply.

I'm planing to get the Intel Quad Core Q6600. I've checked it with Intel
and should be ok. I might update this post after I receive and test it.
Cheers.
