Thanks, Chris. With your hint alluding to the chipset drivers, I realized that I didn't have the two Intel drivers loaded (I just did a fresh re-install of Windows 7). The one that resolved the issue was the R284362.EXE ("Applies to AMT HECI (Consumer Desktop)") which coincidentally indicated that it contained [drum roll] the Intel Management Engine components. Once that loaded, I re-flashed the BIOS using the /foreceit switch (allowing me to re-flash with the same A06 version) and this time everything, including the Intel ME BIOS components loaded succesfully. Thanks!

Hi XPS_2011,

I found the same issue reported in this thread. Despite the error, the user found the BIOS had indeed been updated.

Yes, I did see that thread when I performed an initial search on this topic... he is correct in that the system BIOS does appear to update properly, however, the Intel ME BIOS does not since the current version can't be verified. So far Dell Tech Support has been unable to provide me a solution for this (only repeatedly scolding me for updating my BIOS without being instructed to do so by them). I appreciate any insight into this... Thanks!

I wonder if that is tied in with the age of our two chipset drivers?
