XPS 8300 temp sensor

Dells XPS8300 i7-2600. I am using Open Hardware Monitor software to watch temps. The cpu fan temp sensor is showing 114.0°C at start-up even when the computer has been off all night.  This causes the CPU fan to run at max rpm.  I am sure this is an error because the cpu temps are all below 45°C, in fact no temp exceeds 45°C other than"temp sensor #1".

Using the bios diagnostics shows the fan to be working properly as is everything else.

Dell doesn't support 3rd party software.  Especially hardware monitoring software. 114ºC= 237.2000ºF  Obviously you cant, Boil Eggs, roast ribs or chickens inside your case.  So this "reading" is completely in error.

CPU's will die forever past 60ºC or so and most other components will fry at 85ºC

Only military Grade equipment is rated at 150ºC.

I guess I didn't make my problem very clear.  I am sure the temp reading is wrong.  What is happening is that my cpu fan is running at max rpm and sounds like a jet taking off.

I have reset the bios and ran the diagnostics in the bios, everything passed.

Some dell systems have an air intake sensor.  I have no idea on the xps system. I am not dell engineering. If you messed with the heatsink and did not replace the thermal compound then the error is obvious. The other indication of fan running in airplane mode is BAD CAPS on the motherboard or inside the power supply.  HOWEVER Power supplies are not user serviceable (there is death in there).

Some Dell fans have a sensor right on the fan. This is why they have more than 3 wires.
