Please help, I need this SM-Bus driver.

There are 2 required chipsets for the XPS 8700 with Win 8.1. They should have been the first 2 drivers installed after the clean Win 8.1 install.

 These are the 2 you need:

Intel Z87 Chipset Driver

Intel AMT HECI Driver

Install in order listed. If you still have problems, try disabling your anti-viral software first and/or booting in Safe Mode and try installing again.

If that still doesn't work, and you can get the PC connected to the internet, go to the Intel download site and install their driver update utility. Let it scan your system and recommend the latest Win 8.1 drivers for your hardware.

I downloaded the Intel Z87 Chipset Driver you linked.
It has the exact same name and size and unsurprisingly, installation failed too.

The HECI driver installed without issues.

No anti-virus or firewall running on this machine.

I would like to avoid the driver update utility. I have installed the DellSystemDetectLauncher and let it search for over 1/2 hour with no result.

Please advise.

Chipset_Intel_Win8.1_A00_V2D47_Setup_ZPE (from the link provided above) also failed to install. :(

Have you run chkdsk /f on the hard drive?

Have you tried disabling "Secure Boot" in BIOS setup? Is BIOS set for Legacy or UEFI?

Something went wrong with your clean install? Did you wipe the drive and reformat it, or did you attempt to install "on top"?
