XPS 8700

I have a Dell XPS 8700 with windows 8.1. I had some spyware on my computer and I deleted it in the registry! I use to do this all the time when I was running XP anyway bottom line my computer now boots up with symbols and I cannot sign In. I tried to boot in safe mode to get to recovery but it wont let me. I can F12 and F2 but dont know how to get to my recovery? I also do not have a recovery disc. Thanks

See here, you'll have to try, trial and error to get the correct edition of .iso that matches your key:

1.Turn off your computer, make sure there no power is getting to the computer.

2. Turn on computer then hit the F8 tab repeatly. You might have to repeat the process a few times before "safe mode" appears

Good luck

The F8 key does not open the system recovery options for Windows 8.1.

Maybe this article will help: :emotion-1:

EDIT:

One of the most common steps when troubleshooting a PC is to boot into safe mode. For a long time this has been achieved by pressing the F8 key, this all changes with Windows 8 and its Automatic Repair mode. But what if we want Safe Mode?

You can still have Safe Mode, however, it is buried deep into the recovery options of Windows 8. While just mashing the F8 key as we all know will boot you into automatic recovery mode, you can still manually access the recovery options by pressing the Shift+F8 key combination. Even more simple, however, is the option to just hold the SHIFT key and click Restart at the login screen, or even within Windows.

You reside in the US so try to fill in this form:

www.dell.com/recoverymedia/

Otherwise as mentioned, download the Windows 8.1 .iso and create a bootable USB with the GPT partition scheme.
