XPS-8900 Intel HD Graphic Driver
I want to update the video driver in my XPS-8900 for Intel HD Graphic card.
Current driver is 20.19.15.4331, 11/18/2015
But the one on the dell download page is 20.19.15.4312, A03, 08 Mar 2016
The date is newer but the version number is older. When I try to install it, it says I'm trying to install an older version. Is the one on the Dell site older or newer?

Hello! First off I'm going to assume you are running Windows 10. If so Windows 10 will automatically update drivers as they come out for your machine, but it comes from the chip set companies and not Dell. The driver on Dell's site is OLDER then the one installed currently on your computer, ignoring the dates. Dell can take several months to validate drivers for their machines and implement upgrades depending on whats going on. If you do not have any issues, I would keep the current driver you have.

Yes, Windows 10. Actually I am having issues. The computer locks up hard when Microsoft spider solitaire is run. Not immediately, but after a few minutes. Can't move the mouse pointer, keyboard does nothing. The only thing I can do is hold the power button in to force a stop. That is why I suspect a video driver problem. No other program does this. I'm not a gamer so that is the only game I run.

Hello! Sorry for the delay. I would install the Dell driver and see if that works. Uninstall the Intel graphics driver you have first, then install the new one. If that doesn't work try going to Intel's website and see if they have an updated driver although be warned that on some chipsets Intel doesn't like people installing 'generic' drivers from their site.

Oh yea, windows should install a generic driver. Things might be a bit big on the screen but you should have enough wiggle room to see what you are doing.
