XPS 8900 Multiple Monitors Setup
Just bought the Dell XPS 8900 desktop and it came with NVIDIA 745 video card (4MB on board) that has a DVI, HDMI and VGA port on it. The desktop also has another HDMI port and Display Port (DP) on the back of the device. I have 4 monitors I would like to connect to the desktop. All monitors have a DVI, HDMI and DP ports on them. I can only get 2 monitors working at the same and that is the ones hooked up to the video card directly. The other 2 monitors connected to the HDMI and DP port are not working at all. I made sure that multiple monitors is checked in the BIOS. How do I get the built in GPU on this desktop to work with the current NVIDIA card ? Is this even possible? Looks like the video card is disabling the built in video. Any advise or help is much appreciated. Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you and need five monitors. I have the same Nvidia 745 video card and that's supposed to run 3 monitors from what I've read. In the past on the pc's I've built, when a video card is inserted in the PCI slot, it disables the onboard video. 8-( I'm having boot issues when I have two video cards installed and when I remove one it will boot. There should be no reason you can't have two discrete video cards running. The one I added is not a gaming card and gets it's power from the PCI 3.0 bus. The Dell 745 card is tiny and can't draw that much power. Lets hope we can get our PC's working with more monitors!

did either of you get an answer? I bought one with the plan to add a second card but the 745 is OEM only and dell only has some 2GB cards that are compatible. I would like to get the same card or at least the same mem and clock speed
Dell?
