XPS 9100 6 BIOS beeps - 2 possible issues?
This shuts down while using and emits 6 beeps while flashing amber on the power button. I can shut it down and restart after five minutes and it runs fine - until the next time it does it. I ran Dell diagnostics and it passed all with flying colors.
I do not have a usb keyboard anymore (wireless) so I cannot get into set up to check for codes. Per Dell, the beep code of 6 for the XPS series is real time clock failure. All other info I see says it is video card. Current vid card is Radeon HD 5870 which is old, I know. Does any one know what I should get as a replacement, assuming it is the video card? TIA

You're mistaken...
According to the manual for this exact model, 6 beeps is video card or chip failure, and 5 beeps is Real Time Clock failure.
So start by reseating the video card in its slot and make sure the video card fan (assuming it has a fan) is clean and working. Check that all other fans are clean and working too.
If you have to replace the video card, you can use any PCI-e x16 video card that requires no more than 300W, supports whatever version of Windows you have, has video output ports that match what your monitor(s) use, and fits the budget.
And you can use a wired USB keyboard, you don't need to use a wireless one...
