XPS One 24: Windows 7 64-bit - Drivers for touch controls on monitor?
So I've installed the 64 bit version of Windows 7 RC and am really enjoying its performance on my XPS One. I've been able to find drivers for everything EXCEPT the touchpad buttons on the side of the monitor. I know Dell shipped the computer with the 32 bit version of XP (why I don't know), but is there any way I can find a driver to get these buttons working again? If not, hopefully this is a problem they will address soon. It seems ridiculous for them to make a computer very capable of running a 64 bit OS and not support it. Thanks!

Hi there. I just installed Windows 7 x64 on the XPS ONE 24", and I am having major issues running the TV.
What kind of drivers did you find for the built-in tv tuner? I downloaded the ones' from Dell site for Vista x32 and all it shows is gibberish and then BSOD.
Any help?

I have exactly the same issue with the media buttons. Its a pity because the XPS ONE is prob the most user friendly computer I have worked on and stopped me from thinking about buying a mac. It would really put me off buying another Dell in future if simple future proofing issues like this were not addressed. I'm surprised with the time companies have had to develop windows 7 upgrade issues, that a company as big as Dell had not already done this. I hope that this is not the reason why The XPS ONE 24 is being sold for half price for the next couple of days.
I tried to run the installation files in Vista compatible mode but maybe its because I installed 64 bit Windows that it wont work. I may just put the old drive back in for now, and hope that dell sort something out soon.

If you have an AVerMedia 306, you can use this driver:
http://www.avermedia.eu/avertv/DE/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=199&tab=APDriver
cu
ALDI-Tuete
(I'm also looking for drivers for the sensor buttons on a XPS One 20 - actually without success :-( Thread )

I followed the thread tagged at the bottom of MarkusGiessen's post above and all the problems are resolved.
Basically I downloaded 3 drivers from the Vista 32-bit drivers & downloads page, under the Chipset sub-category.
(1) Cypress Semi-conductor - Application for the Touch Panel Media Key
(2) Intel - Driver for the Management Engine Interface (QST)
(3) Ricoh - Driver for the Card Reader R5C833
All 3 problems above solved. I'm not actually sure that #3 above was necessary, I rebooted separately after each install and that was the only one which nothing appeared to change afterward, so I think perhaps the first 2 are the only ones necessary.
Thanks everyone for your help. I'd suggest to Dell to put information about these issues in a central place for people who upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit, although I suspect most of those who do this are more sophisticated than me and don't have these problems or at least know how to fix them easily themselves.

Hi, below is my original post with the problems and question.
Hi, I also quite ambitiously installed Windows 7-64 bit as a clean install over the factory-installed Vista 32-bit on my XPS 24. Most things work brilliantly, but I'm having 3 problems and since I'm no guru they may be inter-related or they may not:
(1) same issue with the nice touch screen volume / DVD controls on the lower right side panel. They still light up nicely blue when I wave my hand in front of them, but they control absolutely nothing anymore.
(2) I have a wireless keyboard with the media center controls on the right side. The trackpad for the mouse works, none of the volume or channel buttons work.
(3) 2 device drivers were not succesfully installed: PCI Simple Communications Controller & Base System Device
On that last one I sadly have no idea what they even do. Perhaps they are tied into (1) and (2) above, I have no clue. Has anyone solved these problems yet? As for your suggestion above, how do you know if you have AVerMedia 306 and what it does? Sorry if I sound IT-challenged.

I have installed this driver for W7 32 bits, but it seems to be compatible with the 64 bits version.
It is located on the DELL DVD Drivers for Win7 upgrade :
E:\DellWin7Upgrade\DRIVERS\BOTH\OD_Eject
Hope this will work

Hi
Did you ever manage to solve this?
I have exactly the same problem and have been waiting for over a year hoping that Dell would sort this out by now.
I have even reported it to them, so you would have thought they would have a solution by now!
If anyone nows how I can fix this then that would be great.

I did... look up above higher on the list for the reply, I'm pasting it here too:

Hi Mike
Sorry, my browser wasn't showing all the threads for some reason.
Anyway I got as far as step 1, but for some reason it wouldnt install (2) Intel - Driver for the Management Engine Interface (QST)
I can't remember the error message now - something about it being installed on an incorrect version of windows.
It kinda works a little bit now after the Cypress Semi-conductor install (Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, and sometimes there is quite a long delay for it does something, but I guess it is better than how I had it before!)

Download the Driver for Management Engine Interface and save it somewhere. Right click on the file and select Troubleshoot Compatibility. I'm assuming you got the XPS with Vista and upgraded it to Win 7, first try running it using "recommended settings" (unless you already did and that failed), if that fails then right click again, select Troubleshoot Compatibility, select Troubleshoot Program, and then tick off the box that says "the program worked in earlier versions of Windows"; then select the Vista version and run it again.
Good luck,
Mike
