A few months after upgrading my XPS 2710 to Windows 10, I started having problems that eventually caused the system not to boot at all. After very frustrating attempts to fix, I gave up. However, I am still using my XPS 2710 today and it's better than ever. Here's what I did. Having learned that the mSATA cache isn't used by Windows 10, I decided to do a clean install of Windows 10 to my 64GB mSATA drive and set it up as the C: drive for booting Windows, drivers and programs/apps. The HDD (now D:) is for storage only. The system boots very quickly now and without any problems. I am in the process of figuring how to clone the mSATA boot drive to a larger 250GB mSATA, since the 64GB mSATA drive is starting to get tight with various updates to the OS and programs. If I am unable to use the 250 mSATA SSD as the boot drive, I'll just reinstall the present 64GB mSATA boot drive. For me, that's how I'm keeping my XPS 2710 chugging along three years after purchase.

hi i finally was able to configure my 2710 pc to boot to my msata samsung evo 250g ssd. and like what you did i set my ssd to be the c drive for windows then the hdd 2tb as storage and some other programs.  but it wasn't simple as my original 32g msata ssd was for rst only. so at first when replaced it to my new 250g ssd the bios would not recognize it as part of the bootable drives. so then i had to reset my already upgraded bios by pulling out all power supply and the bios battery, after which my bois started recognizing my new installed msata ssd as a bootable drive. where then i installed my windows os.

i know samsung has an adaptor external drive where in you can insert you new msata ssd of whatever size gb and clone your existing ssd's operating system to.

Hi, my msata is faulty (many bad sectors) so need to replace it. Which model shall I order and from where? Is this one good?: Lite-on 32gb Lms-32l6m-hp Msata Mini Pci-e SSD HDD Solid State Drive

I found it here: www.amazon.com/.../ref=nav_custrec_signin

Also is it easy to replace it?, could I replace it or is it more complicated? I contacted  Lite-on CO. and they said "Please be informed that your unit is an OEM type SSD, which most likely came installed in a complete system such Dell, HP, Acer, etc.  For that matter, support for the specified product is handled by the PC maker." My Dell One 2710 is only 3 y old and got lots of problems with it already, mainly because of this msata, please help, thank you very much indeed.
