XPS400 keyboard failure

Dimension XPS 400/ 9150
Windows XP MediaCenter

Dell DXP051
BIOS A05

KEYBOARD FAILURE
FLOPPY DISKETTE SEEK FAILURE
PRESS F1 TO CONTINUE; F2 TO RUN SETUP

The message shows with or without the re-installation disk. Hitting F keys (each with it's own bootup) made no difference.

Two keyboards (USP) failed; both worked with other computers. I've cleaned the hard drive before and had no trouble with the re-install disk What else can I try without a keyboard?

Watching the diagnostic keys, it begins with 1 and 4, while booting it changes to 2 and 3, and ends at 1 2 and 3.

Other things I've tried:
shut down computer, unplugged all hardware
opening computer I cleaned dust and cobwebs, didn't remove any hardware just made sure it was all snug

New software installed: Call of Duty 4. System Mechanic pro was also running

Thanks!

open the computer and try a CMOS reset per your manual

Do you have a floppy drive if not set this to off
Time-of-day not set - please run SETUP program
   Set the time and date
Invalid configuration information - please run SETUP program
Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utility

try this and then save and exit bios..it will start to reboot see if they clear....

I also have a keyboard failure on my XPS 400 exp Media Center Dell.  Tried all the USB ports, no other keyboard ports for this machine.  Tried a new keyboard on all the USB ports.  Tried rebooting, no luck with anything.  Can't even boot up, need to press F1 or F2, which it doesn't get because of the keyboard failure.  I think it's a virus that disabled my drives, but am unsure.  Just seems weird that all the USB ports would die at one time.  If anyone has any idea how to help me - I'd greatly appreciate it.  Like you, my warranty just expired a couple of weeks ago.  Great timing.

Thanks,
Sherry

Darn, I have the same error. Keyboard is not detected during CMOS startup. The USB mouse is getting 5v from the USB so it will work when windows launches, but I can hit F1 or F2 to continue since the keyboard doesn't work.

I tried CMOS reset, power reset, removing memory, removing battery. NOTHING.  I tried to reinstall windows, but it won't boot off the CD since the factory reset is hard drive boot and I can't change it since the KEYBOARD isn't recognized.

DId anyone add on a PCI-to-PS/2 - Keyboard / mouse adapter since its definately a USB PROBLEM. Maybe with a PCI card and an old ps2 keyboard I can get this to boot.
