Hi Ray,

Re-enable the onboard and start from the beginning...

First make sure you have the option in the bios to set the primary video controller to AUTO, this is found under Integrated Devices.. Set to AUTO, save changes and exit.. (If you don't have this option, then you'll have to update the bios)

Then on the blue Dell logo screen keep tapping the F8 key until the screen changes to the boot menu, choose safe mode... When into windows disable the onboard and apply changes, reboot and hopefully that should work...

Infact, now you have the drivers installed, you may just have to set the primary video controller to AUTO...

Good luck

Cannot find primary video controller in bios but have found under advanced peripheral config

a primary video adaptor  tab set to intergrated with an option to switch to PCI

should i change???

Also still cannot get to boot menu for safe mode-- is there a way of checking if my F8 key is working

or another methed of entering it or do i even need to now??

Sorry i'm thinking of my bios

Yes, change the setting to PCI and save changes, you may not have to go into safemode, so just try it out...

I can't understand why you can't access safemode, i'm not sure how to check if the key is working, but if i have an idea i'll post back..

Good luck
