diagnostic LEDs - 3,4: Memory Subsystem configuration activity or failure.

My XPS 400 will not start up.  Hit the power and it starts to go but 3,4 light up and it just sits there.  I went through the online help and reset the memory and other tests no luck.  Bought new memory tried that same thing 3,4 light up and thats it.  Not sure what else to do.  The online also mention the mother board could be bad?  3,4 talks only about memory.

Any thoughts?

Is the power button LED solid green, blinking green, solid amber, or blinking amber?

Try removing all the memory modules, reinstall one module, and restart the computer, if the system does not boot, try installing the module in different slots one at a time, rebooting the system each time.

Still does not boot, then try a different module and repeat the process.

Continue until you have identified a faulty module [or slot] or reinstalled all modules without error.

Then if the computer still does not start, it's possible that the motherboard has failed and needs to be replaced.

Bev.
