Whatever it is that is causing the problem will not be solved by disabling shadowing or caching, as it is not possible to do this in the Dell BIOS. Try posting the full and exact text of the error message your are receiving in the Software - Windows XP forum where you will find many users that can help you. The BIOS forum gets very little traffic compared to the Software Windows XP forum.

You don't get rid of shadowing or caching.
Windows is not MSDOS and you don't get Integrated video ram back.
This hasn't been a Bios option for almost 30 years now.
