error code
I've been having this problem for about a year, and has now given me an error msg after I did a systems test. I received this msg:
Error code - 2000-0142
Validation - 99870
Msg: Hard drive 0 - s/n s2x2j90cc07114, short self test unsuccessful.
Tech support will need this info to diagnose the problem. Please record the above error and validation codes.
I can't connect wirelessly and I'm not sure if this is a warranty issue or it's out of warranty. I don't remember how long ago I got this. I'm on another laptop doing this.

2000:0142 usually means the drive is dead and has nothing to do with wirless communication.
Error code: 2000-0146 (DST Log contains previous errors) refers to previous errors in the psa logs which might not really be a hardware failure.
error code: 0146
Msg: Error code: 2000-0146
Msg: Hard drive 1: Self test log contains previous errors.
Please refer to the following article for more information on running
the Dell 32-bit Diagnostics Utility: http://dell.to/MNJv4B
2000-0146 (Drive Self Test) can also occur if you have not provided a writeable Disc to check the optical drive.
Run the LONG Test on Just the hard drive.
It means the log has Previous Errors.

Remove and reinstall the Hard Drive for the error codes:

Please see the Service manual for instructions on how to remove and replace the Hard Drive. Be sure to remove and reinstall the cables for the hard drive if you are on a Desktop Computer.
After reinstalling the hard drive re-run the diagnostics if you receive the same error code
RE Run the Drive Self Test (DST) from the Utility Partition also
known as the 32 bit diagnostics to determine if the previous error has been corrected.
If the DST from the Utility Partition does not indicate a failure of the drive,
Dell considers the error to have been corrected and the drive does not need to be replaced.

You can check the warranty status by going to the Support site and clicking Product Support box. Then put in the PC's Service Tag and on next screen click the Warranty link near the top.
