xx34 diagnostic lights indicate a memory problem, try opening the case, remove and reinstall the memory modules.

See the Optiplex 210L MT diagnostic codes HERE <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

Just wanted to say thank you very much. It did turn out to be the memory. Once I put them back in everything is normal again.

I had upgraded memory about 3 months ago.  Everything was fine until I went on vacation.  When I returned home, all i could get it to do was beep at me.

Someone had given me beep codes from the internet that said it was the keyboard controller, which would have meant either a new motherboard or a

new computer.  I'll take the memory problem.  Then I discovered the codes could be different for different models.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

That's great and I'm happy to hear that the problem is resolved.

I realize that the original post is very old, but in case this helps anyone else, 6 beeps does mean a bad memory chip.  I had a 210L start beeping 6 times, and pulling out the one bad memory chip resulted in a successful booting machine.
