i dont know how to thank u but yes it worked. thanks a million. this is my first time formatting winxp on any machine. Im so used to doing win95-2000. Thank god it was successful. the only yellow ! im getting in device manager is video controller (vga compatible) whatever that means. winxp saw the video card on the system. its the only thing listed with yellow !

ok i think my video is being run by systems memory and not its own. the video controller in control panel  has a yellow !  is this considered the video card driver that is missing. oh wow screen just flashed and there was a microsoft update for that driver. what perfect timing. ok thanks anyway. have a great new yr 

go to that link in my message at the top. then look for network. click it. then look for 10/100 lom click it then choose open let it install drivers. it worked great for me
