housecall/trojan

Something strange jsut happened to me- got klezzed for the millionth time- Nortons caught it, but went to run a Housecall scan anyway. Before the it even began scanning a screen popped up saying something like, we have found a malalert (?!) , then something about Trojan(yikes), then saying they have caught it and I have to restart my computer- which I didn't. Nothing like that happened the time I really did have a virus. Anyone know anything about this. I tried to call Housecall, but they are closed. I will not turn off my computer for now. Thanks.

The strange thing was that it was a pop-up before it even started doing the scan. I absolutely trust Housecall- they saved our behinds a few months ago. However, I do not trust the virus writers and their tricks.

tlois,

It would have been helpful to have the exact wording of the alert you got from Housecall, but since the program indicated that the trojan had been "caught" it would seem to me that restarting your computer would be safe. It doesn't make sense to trust the program to advise you on the contents of your computer but not to trust it to advise you what to do when it finds something.
