i3 cpu confusion

Hello! I have a inspiron 3000 with a i3 4150 dual core, but task manager reads it like it has 4 cores.in it. Would video games see this cpu as a quad core ,or nothing of the sort? I know they are 4 threads, but I am confused by it.

No game is going to be fooled by hyperthreaded cores. 2 Cores is not 100 percent faster than 1 core.  Each core adds less and less and less.  1st additional core adds 19% 2nd additional core adds 11% 3rd additional core adds 6 % 4th core adds 2 percent.  And only for software that is written to take advantage of multi core.  Afaikt Hyperthread is a gimmick that adds 0% performance. That core I3 has

Farcry 4 gets 10 to 14 fps on LOW settings.

Far Cry 4

The benchmarks indicate that the game is not playable in the tested settings low 1024 x 768  med 1366 x 768

A good Core2 Duo with Mid to High end GPU will ALWAYS be more than 400 percent faster than INTEL Graphics.

All INTEL GRAPHICS is slow some is slow as dirt. INTEL IRIS PRO graphics is faster due to DEDICATED RAM FOR THE GPU on the CPU.

Most Low End GPU's like a Radeon 7750 aka R7 250E blow away intel Graphics.

MHZ does not equal Game Performance.

INTEL Shaders can be as low as 6

Only the core I7 series gets 24 to 48 shaders.

Each of the cores in the dual core is hyperthreaded so windows sees 4 cores.

If this is the 3847 Tower you can go all the way to a

4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4790 processor (8M 4.0 GHz) which will show 8 cores because it has 4 cores each of which is hyperthreaded.

Was curious how games treat the i3. Would it treat it like it was a four core cpu, even tho it has four threads, not cores? Any idea if a game would run properly if minimum spec calls for a quad core for the game? Anyone know? Thanks for helping! I love learning from you all.

My resolution on the evil within demo  was 1366 X 768

And I neglected to point out I have a gt 430 for graphics 1 gb vram  right now.  Geez I forgot the graphics were on there too! . I can't believe the onboard graphics can even run far cry 4. Since I'm so clever, I downloaded the evil within, which lists an i7 as minimum cpu required. My gruesome i3 4150 and gt430 had it going. Wasn't quite playable, but didn't crash once  in about an hour and a half of playing. Since I have a video card, is it possible to divert the resources used for the i3 graphics  part of the chip to only cpu operations? Asking so many questions because it is very interesting, and I can't get a i5 right now. This is why I have three Dells. Thank you so much. Really, hyper threading  is basically worthless?! You gotta tell me more of that theory when you get a minute, please:emotion-1:

GT430 is a wayy low end gpu.  The reason you never want a slim desktop is that you can add a Geforce 750 TI card.

It is the 3847, so it's not a slim desktop. The least expensive 750 ti I I can find is $130.With only 2gb vram. Another has 2gb vram for $385. The $130 one is a good deal and all, but 2 gb vram would not be enough pretty soon, I'm guessing. Gt430 isn't a Titan, but there are worse cards. I'm not trying to game at 4K resolution. It only has 1 gb vram, so I have to change it soon. And believe it or not, it can run some 'real' games pretty darn good. I've been trying to get info on threads and cores for the i3, with not much luck.People here are so smart and pretty, I thought I'd get some info here.:emotion-1:  I had a game with an i7 as minimum spec . Is that so far off that my i3 can run it? Task manager makes it look like I have four cores, but  they are threads. it is confusing to me.I don't know when I can upgrade stuff, so I am especially curious. Money is tight and I have guitar and amps to feed or I'd get higher dollar stuff  right now!
