internet connection fail

Dell Inspiron 660, i3-2120, integrated10/100/1000 network card; windows 7 upgraded to windows 10, windows 10, version 1607, build 14393.222 .

PC has worked great since new. Upgraded to windows 10 in Feb 2016, and PC has worked great. Last week or two whenever I turn PC on, there is no internet connection about 75% of the time (use Ethernet cable). Have to disable then enable ‘Realtek PCle GBE Family Controller’ in 'view network adapters' to get internet working. Few times had to do this twice to get internet working. Currently have driver 9.1.1404.2015 (4/5/2015); driver provider Realtek. Thanks for any advice.

Hi Wayne,

This looks to be an issue with the ethernet cable. I see there are a later update for the Realtek Ethernet Driver on our support site: http://dell.to/1J0vskx . You can try updating to the latest driver and observe is the same issue occurs again.

I thought an Ethernet cable either worked or didn't work. Since I could get internet connection to work by disable and enable the adapter, I assumed Ethernet cable was ok. I thought it was a Windows 10 issue.

I replaced the Ethernet cable this morning, and so far the internet connection has worked perfect for several shut downs and restarts. During the tests, I did reconnect the old Ethernet cable and internet connection failed again.

PC has worked perfect since changing the Ethernet cable.

I downloaded the driver from your post above. I clicked on Update Driver (in Device Manager) to install the downloaded driver. Popup window says 'The best driver software for your device is already installed'. ***Would I need to click on Uninstall, to uninstall the 4/5/2015 driver; then redo the Update Driver and point to the July 29, 2015 driver (last updated Dec 15, 2015). ***

I also updated Serial ATA driver and Chipset driver today (from the Dell auto detect system).

I currently have A05 BIOS; A09 BIOS was suggested from the Dell auto detect system, but I may try this update next year maybe.

Thanks
