keyboard failure
I have a recurring problem that begins with the message "keyboard failure" when I switch on my computer. The computer then directs me to strike F1 to continue or F2 to run the utility setup. Neither seems to work. I must turn off my computer manually and restart for it to work. My computer then works fine, but everytime I turn it on I have the same problem. What gives? I have had this problem for some months but ignored it until the F1 "to continue" message stopped working.

What is your system type? You know, Dimension T, R, ect..

To what port is the keyboard connected?

I have my keyboard connected to the USB port on the back of the CPU.

Have you tried the other back and the front USB ports?

I am getting the same message at bootup with my new MS Bluetooth Keyboard (adds battery low). The batteries are not low. Powering off then on sometimes fixes the problem as does putting in new batteries. The first few weeks with the Keyboard I had no problems.
Questions
1. Should I try a different USB port?
2. Should I turn Keyboard Reporting off in bios?

My one week old Dimension 4600, XP, with Dell enhanced Keyboard works fine, but when waking up, I get an error message that a problem with the keyboard is keeping the system from going into standby. [I'm not even sure this is true, because the screen goes dark and I have to log in again.]
When looking in system manager, device manager, keyboard it says its working fine and troubleshoot doesn't really do anything. I'm stumped.

Hello, i am the proud owner of a Dimension 8300, since a few weeks, i tried to make it more effective to my needs and i made it fully empty and reinstalled everything, the only thing what bothers me is that i get everytime an keyboard failure at startup, i have a ps2 keyboard and when i took my old usb keyboard i had no problems, is there a possibility to make my dell ps2 keyboard work again ???
I can do lots on this crazy and so nice Dell but my keyboard gives me many headaches, i am not so good with ps2 and ports, can someone give me assistance our a good tip to solve this problem ??
It makes me desperate hahaha, so please help me...
Second question is about the sm-buscontroller, is there a possibility to get a driver for that, i read many about it but maybe i am to stupid but it doesnt succeed at my comp, it is installed, no marks in the systemmanagement, but it said when you go in to it, no driver installed, please help me find that, i am proud to be an owner of one of the quikkest computers at the moment, but without my Dell keyboard it is not so much fun...hope somebody can help me, and thanks for reacting !!
