memory load 100%

Question

Have Dimension L, 1ghz, 512 RAM.  Memory load @ 100%.  Only running windows explorer and excel spreedsheat.  When I close windows explorer memory load goes down to 33.  Help Message Edited by mlw111 on 04-09-2004 07:23 PM

Which version of Windows are you running?  Where are you reading this value of 'memory load'? Steve

Windows ME.  Norton system doctor.  When I open up more than 2 programs I usually get blue screen saying you are running low on memory.

Uninstall all Norton software.... ;) it's useless.

Sounds like you might have a virus, I would download ad-aware6 and run a scan , that is what i did I found that I had 18 files infected, that program cleaned things up for me ,also go into run type in msconfig and click on start up and uncheck  almost all of the programs but leave the file (ccapp) that is your norton if you have it. delete all your cookies and all your temp files  do a defrag and that should help you out a lot
