missing .dll files

on startup I receive "Error Starting Program"

1. reads "a required .DLL file, C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSVCRT.DLL was not found".

2. reads "a required .DLL file, MFC42. DLL, was not found".

How do I download on my other computer & get on the one with the problem. There is also a message for Greeting Workshop Reminder Service which reads "Could not load the interface to GWUtil97.DLL. It said to restart or reinstall Greetings Workshop. I restarted same message, so I tried reinstalling but a something is missing and I can't install anything "Installion was unsuccessful" messages keep coming up.
Help thanks.

Hi,

The two files Windows is asking for can be extracted from your operating system CD. Insert the CD in your CD-ROM. Do not allow it to run. Instead, go to Start | Run | enter sfc in the field, and OK the run. Choose to Extract one file from installation disk, and name that file exactly in the filed. Start the process and browse to the Win98 folder on your OS CD as the source of the file. The utility will take care of the rest for you. Do this once for each missing Windows .dll.

First take care of the Windows errors, and then for the file missing in Greetings, it appears that you will want to acvtively uninstall Greetings, then restart your system, and reinstall it. I'll check some .dll libraries I know of, however, and see if you can get just the file.

Good luck,

Kay

Edit: I was unable to find this file at any of my sources, but perhaps someone else here can locate it for you. Barring that, then once you get Windows straightened out, then I would work with uninstalling the program, restarting the system, and reinstalling the program. End Edit.
