no display

hi wonder if anyone can help
i am running a dimension 2100 originally with windows millenium upgraded to xp sp1 and upgraded to sp2
on start up the computer seems to start ok , all the normal sounds ,no warning beeps and have 4 green lights at the back,have checked all internal connections but no display at all on start up.
have tried another monitor still the same
no recent software installed
this happened two weeks before and returned to normal with no fault or warning notices
have tried floppy start up disks and xp cd but with no monitor display am lost.
any suggestions

If you can boot into safemode, then your problem could be a video card driver issue.
* Power the system off
* Power the system on
* At the blue Dell, tap F8 to bring up the Windows boot menu
* Scroll to and select Safe Mode [Press the Enter Key]
* Select the first or only operating system [Press the Enter Key]

still having problem with display: no graphics card installed and monitor still shows a blank screen on start up that is after 30 second of computer starting  the monitor is still "dead" and goes into standby mode

Try removing and reseating the graphics card, power off, unplug pc power cord, touch case for static. If no luck, card may be bad, I had mine do lots off odd things, fading to darkness, stripes, etc.
