optiplex 990 turn raid off, is disk readable
I did not realize raid was on, I installed, so I am in raid degraded as there is only one disk. If I turn raid off, I know it is not bootable , but is the data still readable on the disk if I install an OS on another disk.

Hi ibm650,
There are two settings. There is a RAID controller setting in the BIOS, and then there is the Ctrl-i menu where you can set up an actual array. And there are two types of RAID, mirroring and striping. You need to explain what you think you have done.

RAID 1 creates two identical disks so both disks can be read.

The ctrl I says all disk data will be deleted if I turn off raid or change disk to non raid. Dell and Intel do raid 0 different than I would think. I guess I will copy the disk.
