The application is malware or is not WHQL certified. 64 bit versions of windows DO NOT ALLOW any application or driver or hardware to run or install if they are not WHQL Certified.
As it has before: From the site the application never downloads. When I select save it downloaded a "manifest" and then an "application". Get application will not install message.
You must not be using firefox and or have antivirus that is blocking dell system detect and you are using ancient XP . IE8 isnt supported anymore.
Dell System Detect installer Download: Click here if Dell System Detect installer download does not start in few seconds
Follow below steps if installation does not begin automatically after downloaded:
1. Click Downloads under Tools menu or press Ctrl + J to open downloader window. 2. Find the DellSystemDetect file from the downloader window or downloaded location. 3. Double Click the downloaded file to initiate installation. Please note the installer requires administrative rights to install. 4. Click the Install button in the wizard to complete installation and launch the Dell System Detect application.
I am considering this problem solved. In order to get chat support I have to instal this application. Apparently it cannot be installed on my computer. I have found a way to get into chat and then be transferred to the correct person.
Sorry. Ditched IE months ago. Firefox is all I use. WIndows defender, Windows 8.1. Tried all of that didn't work. Easier to work around the download requirement and have chat transfer me.

This is not dell software and not supported here.

You will have to be more forthcoming than "it" doesn't work.
What is the exact address of the "Site" that you are accessing?
There are many spoofed sites that are not dell.

I am considering this problem solved. In order to get chat support I have to instal this application. Apparently it cannot be installed on my computer. I have found a way to get into chat and then be transferred to the correct person.
