"invalid configuration information please run setup program"
Hi everyone, I have a little problem here.
When I turn my computer on (Dell C521 Dimension), it says the following:
"invalid configuration information please run setup program"
now, I noticed that the date on the machine is always reseting to 2003, so I figured that the error its giving me, has something to do with that, so I bought a new CMOS Battery, but it still doesnt remember the date, I change it, save it, and when I re-start, it has again the 2003.......what can be wrong with this? I tried updating the BIOS from the 4.0.3 to 4.1.11.....but that didnt fix the problem.

1. Measure the voltage of the new battery with a voltmeter to be sure you did not get a bad one by chance. Should be over 3 volts
2. Did you insert the new battery with proper polarity.
3. Inspect the battery socket contacts for corrosion
4. Clear the cmos setting using this guide, scroll down to "clearing cmos settings"

beyond these efforts I can only suggest there is a motherboard defect.
