Hello PamNiagara,

 

first of all you need to check if you have a disk or CD for reinstalling the program. Now if you can't find any disc at all i suggest you to get into safe mode by pressing F8 several times when the system is restarting and then get to control panel, click on system and then enter the device manager under hardware if it's Win XP.

Then look for audio device in the list and right click it and choose uninstall. After you've done this restart the computer, and let the system recognize the audio device again.

Ok then the driver should be under the Drivers and Utilities - Dell Resource CD for the sound altough i think your missing a driver cd the one for soundmax,.... if this is the case then you should talk to their support phone line or download the software from the website.... www.support.dell.com then click on home & home office and then click download and then put your service tag and look for the audio driver and software......

We recently had to reformat our computer. After reinstalling everything that Dell sent us when we purchased the computer, this is the audio program that was installed. It should be on one of those discs, but I just don't know which one. Here's what CDs I have:
