reset BIOS

I recently posted a problem(needing to press DEL to resume booting) and it was recommended that I reset the BIOS.  The link included with the rec. just showed what pins should be jumpered, but I'm expecting that's how I'd find it anyway.

So...what exactly IS resetting the BIOS?  I have done searches but I can't find anything like "BIOS resetting for dummies" LOL.  I gather that I'll have to remove and replace the jumper.  Do I leave it unjumpered for a length of time?  I figure the BIOS will be labeled on the mobo, right?

Thanks

You should have an option in the BIOS to "restore factory settings" or "default settings" or something similar.  That is what, usually, needs to be done.   The removing power or a jumper pin on the motherboard is only a last resort to reset the BIOS if you can't access it and do the "reset" within the BIOS.

Thanks, but apparently my BIOS...the A06 does not contain a resetting option.  There isn't an option to restore default or factory settings

The closest thing that sounds like it is under the Advanced section...Boot Configuration Data...if I change it to 'Yes' it would "clear PCI/PnP Configuration data stored in flash on next boot"  That didn't seem like resetting but let me know if it is.

Otherwise I will indeed have to remove the jumper from the pins to reset the BIOS.  I just wanted a little more info as I'm not one to do something on the mobo without knowing what to expect after I do it...silly, I know

I'd at least like to know what settings(and where to find them) that I'll have to restore after resetting the BIOS.

Thanks

It is possible to clear the CMOS by removing the nickel sized battery on the MB for one day.  Put back the battery and reboot the PC.

Usually the restore or reset BIOS function is one of the options when you are ready to exit the BIOS setup.  e.g. Save settings and exit, or discard settings and exit or default settings and exit, etc.

Ahhhh...I think I found it

Does "save setup defaults", in the EXIT section, sound right?

Thanks so much.
