security options failure

my 18-month-old inspiron 530s w/ vista home has recently picked up the annoying habit of freezing up and then giving me the "Log-on process has failed to create the security options dialog." sound familiar to anyone? thots? thanks, glenn

I have been having the exact same problem with my Dell (same model, similar time frame). Could you please tell me if you ever resolved this issue, Glenn?  Thank you so much!  I've wasted so much time trying to troubleshoot this during the month when I rely on my computer the most... Gratefully (& hopefully!), Redd.

hey, redd.

here's the solution i used.

 i can't tell u exactly what the problem was, but it has never come back. it takes a few hours to run this as i recall, but it gives your hard drive a good disenfecting. and it's relatively simple from a user standpoint.
