thanks aps@sun, in my case i'll have to do as you suggested and that is to un-install this mornings download before upgrading again, i can't gain access to the internet unless i do so, i can't get true vector running. i'll also delete the internet logs. also once i do all of the un-installing and deleting hopefully my big internet access worry will be gone and then i can download the new version again. im a little worried about the whole thing , im at work now and can't do anything till the a.m when i get home. i'll keep you posted, thanks henryhll.
p.s. do you think system restore would get me back on track as a last resort?

About the only time I have ever had trouble with ZoneAlarm is when I have done the updates. I have used both the free version and now I have the Pro version, but both seem to exhibit the same problems. The best solution I have found to avoid the problems with true vector is to uninstall and then install the new version.(See the directions for this on the ZoneAlarm Site). If you do not want to do this then you might try deleting the Internet Logs. These can be found by going into Windows Explorer>Windows>Internet Logs. Delete all the files under Internet Logs. These will be recreated as you use ZoneAlarm. This is just a suggestion as to what I did and it seemed to work for me. Maybe someone else has a better idea. Let us know how you solve this problem.

When upgrading or uninstalling, you should answer:
- YES to delete all files
- YES to let TrueVector shut down
- And DO NOT reuse previous settings. This is from ZoneAlarm.

Just found my notes for this Tru Vector Problem:
1. Open ZA, go to Overview>Preferences tab, and make sure the Load at Startup box is Unchecked.
2. REBOOT
3. Then go to those Internet Logs that I described above and delete.
4. EMPTY the Recycle Bin.
5. REBOOT
6. Start ZA manually. You should start now with a fresh database. Recheck Load at Startup.

henryhll, I do not know about using system restore. I guess it would not hurt to give it a try. Although in my experience it seems like the times I have used system restore another problem has occurred-like all the labels on icons, etc. changing to all capital letters. When you uninstall ZoneAlarm make sure you have the directions from ZoneAlarm. There are all kinds of files you need to make sure are gone.So you will need to check on these before you install again. I have found that making sure ZA is completely uninstalled makes for a sucessful reinstall.

Print out these instructions. I think you have Windows ME-am I correct?

thanks aps@sun, my biggest worry is not getting back the internet with the un-install, then im really cooked, can't reach out, but hopefully since the problem is the update, well then getting rid of it should cure things for me to get back on line to download the new version.
thanks again for the link, henryhll
