Hi,

Do you have Windows XP SP1 installed, this is necessary for USB 2 to work unless you are installing a separate PCI USB 2 card with its own drivers.

Ceri ..... Yeah it windows XP with the SP1 pack installled ..... I'm not trying to install any new cards in the computer ...... I just did a clean install of windows XP on this computer and now I'm in the processes of reinstalling all the drivers and software it came with. But like I said windows XP automaticly finds this hardware and installs its own drivers from it data base for them........ So I'm not sure how to proceed cause it says in the link in my first post that its very important to follow all the directions for the install of these drivers for it to work properly. I would really like to install the dell drivers but I am at aloss of how to do this since the directions are very specific and it tells me to go to the device manager find the usb controller with the yellow queston mark by it .... but I dont have one with the yellow queston mark by it cause windows automaticly installed drivers for them and now theres like 4 files usb controllers there.,..... so like I said Not sure what to do here but maybe hope the ones windows installed works.

Thanks for anymore help you could provide!

Try going to the Device Manager (Right click My Computer, click on properties, click on the Hardware Tab and below should be Device Manager) and find Universal Serial Bus Controllers and click on the + and you can right click on the installed Controllers and choose update driver and put your CD in and tell it to find the drivers from your CD drive.

Well I extracted the files from the disc to the hard drive and pointed the driver update to them and it said the drivers I was trying to install were older than the ones on there so I hope they work. I really dont have anything I can try with them except a old scanner that isnt suported by XP.........

FishGuyK,
It appears you overlooked the NOTE section (light gray shaded box before step 1) of the Dell article you referenced in your initial post. It explicitly states that the following steps are only necessary if you DO NOT have Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 1 (SP1). After that it refers you to Dell KB article HO1070993 to learn how to determine if you already have SP1. Since your Dimension 2350 has SP1 slipstreamed onto the OS installation CD you don't have to install the USB 2.0 controller driver.
