windows will not boot after restart with USB device
cannot get Windows to boot, problem started after USB camera was left plugged in and computer was shut down and restarted.( at least i think that was the cause as in trying to restore a message came up that said somethign to the effect of "an audio or video device may have been plugged in....") i have tried doing a system restore with my back up disc but that has not worked. i don't have all the notes i took as i am doing this at work, but when it will not restore the error message is " STARTUP REPAIR OFFLINE". any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Welcome to the Community.
Are you able to boot to safe mode?
Unplug all external peripherals. Restart the system and tap F8 key for Advance Boot Options. Select Safe Mode and hit enter. If the system boots in safe mode try restoring the system from safe mode.
If safe mode does not work, try performing system restore using the Windows 7 disk. Click the link mentioned below and check of you performed system restore correctly using the Windows 7 disk:

If the system restore option does not work from the disk as well, try performing start up repair using the disk. Please refer to the link mentioned below for more information on start up repair:

I was able to boot in safe mode once. but using the system repair disc did not solve the problem. I do not have a windows 7 disk. I have tested all of the memory and all of the hardware, everything passed. I have run start up repair with the system repair disc. I have tried system restore, and it will tell me “system restore did not complete successfully” however when the computer restarts, windows will boot. BUT I have to go through the entire system restore process everytime to get windows to boot. and once the computer sits idle for nay length of time, it goes back to a balck screen and i have to start all over again. I had a full system back up on a USB hard drive, and attempted a full back up the other night, but i don't thiunk it completed. now when I plug it in and try to access it, it is telling me I need to format—location is not available—I:\ is not available –data error(cyclic redundancy check) ugh !!!
