xp install but error msg with cd drive -nt

I have unistalled windows by in dos by using "format c:" I have changed the boot sequence so that the Cd drive starts first but it is not reading the disc. I get an error message of

Device driver not found:MSCD001
No valid cdrom device drivers selected.

Does this mean that there is no driver for the Cd drive?
What can I do?

Thank you

It probably means that you need to start with CD-ROM support, using a boot floppy that has the software needed to enable the CD drive. It'll boot you to an A:\ prompt, whereupon you should be able to change directories by typing cd E:\ (or whatever your CD drive is - it will move up a letter from what it normally is, i.e., D: becomes E:), then, at the prompt for the drive, type Setup and press Enter to start the Windows setup.
