That's interesting, because my boot options ae listed as follows:

1st boot device - floppy
2nd boot device - ARMD-FDD
3rd boot device - IDE-HDD
4th boot device - Atapi CD-ROM
5th boot device - disabled

I wonder why there is a choice of "floppy" and "ARMD-FDD", if they are both in fact the same thing. I'm assuming also that the ARMD-HDD represents the hard drive (yet I only require the IDE-HDD device option). Anyway, thanks for you response.

FDD is Floppy Disk Drive. I'm not sure what the other one is. You do want your FDD listed first so you can boot up from the FDD should the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) fail.

I couldn't stand it. I searched on ARMD and came up with this.

ARMD stands for ATAPI removable media device. ARMD-HDD usually refers to Zip drive while ARMD-FDD usually refer to LS-120 drive.

I don't know why but setting my boot order to seek the nonexistent ARMD-HDD or ARMD-FDD in the beginning of my boot list fixed the annoying Dimension 4100 bug that required human interaction to boot. The boot sequence used to stop with the message "Press del to resume" before setting the nonexistent drive first. Now it boots up perfectly every time.
