Adding a second processor to Precision 690
"I have just purchased an Intel Xeon Dual-Core 5120 1.86GHz 1066MHz 771pin 4MB CPU, OEM
XEON5120, for my Precision 690. It presently has the exact same processor installed from when I
bought it from Dell. I can't seem to find any information on the installation of a second processor in
my manual. Could someone please be so kind as to offer some assistance.
I didn't buy the processor form Dell and it didn't come with a heat sink.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Details are provided in the manual at this link: <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> . You require a heat sink. As I understand it these processors come in passive and active packages. The passive version has a heat sink. I recently fitted a second processor to my T7400 using a dell supplied package which included a heat sink with thermal grease already applied. I suspect you will need to identify suppliers on the Net who sell this processor and take their advice on how to obtain the required heat sink. Hope this helps.
