BIOS setting for new graphics card

I have a 530 inspiron, I just swapped graphics card from the pre-install ATI 2400 to a 8600GT.

However in the Advanced Chipset features part of BIOS it shows the PCI slot to be the "Init Display First".  Shouldn't this be set to the PCIex slot? Do I need to change the BIOS setting to PCIex?

P.S. I have a Firewire card in the PCI slot

Thanks in advance for the answer

The 8600 GT is a PCIx16/AGP based card. I hope you have one of those slots not just a regular PCI slot.

I have already installed the card in the PCI Express slot, I was just wondering why my bios has PCI selected and not PCIex and whether it makes much difference what this Bios setting is. Thanks

Maccer101,

It really doesn't make a difference.  The purpose of this option is to tell the BIOS where to look first for a graphics display adapter at boot up.  By using the PCI setting, it tells the BIOS to search the various PCI slots for a graphics card before looking elsewhere.
