Dell Dimension 4700 upgrade

Hello, I have an old Dell Dimension 4700 and spare pieces that I'm not entirely sure of which are compatible. First of all, it is currently completely stock other than that I upgraded it to windows 7. I plan to upgrade the graphics card and in order to do so I need to upgrade the power supply as well so I want to know before I buy a better power supply if a Sapphire 100215L Radeon HD 3870 graphics card would be compatible with this computer?

Thank you very much for your time

For $40, about the cost of a new power supply, you can get a Sapphire 6450.

Otherwise, I assume the 3870 is compatible with the 4700, although of course a new power supply is required.

The 3870 is a very old design. I'd suggest a 7750, which is faster, has modern features like support for streaming video,  and yet is compatible with your power supply.

Thank you for replying,

I did not plan on spending much money for upgrading an older computer which is why I wanted to use this model, I have a working one sitting around and I know that the PSU requires a 6-pin connector to work with this card. Most modern PSU's will have the 6-pin for the graphics card, but I was curious if I would have any other compatibility issues before I buy a a new power supply. I'm also currently looking into using a Prescott 670 for this computer too.

Thank you for your time
