Dimension 9150 shuts down and will not start for like a day.

Dell Dimension 9150 has a shutdown problem.  Yesterday, for 3rd time, it instantly shut down.  When restart button is pushed, nothing happens.  Lights on mother board are on so getting power.  And like the other times, system started next day.  Any suggestions?

Nothing happens? Power light is off? Diagnostic lights are off?

The light on the motherboard doesn't mean much. It only means that standby power (1W or so) is working. That light can be on with a failed PSU.

Did you try disconnecting devices from the motherboard and PSU to see if you can get the PSU to start up? If you have a spare PSU, you could try that.

You can also disconnect everything from the PSU except 1 HD and then connect green to black on the motherboard PSU connector. If the HD doesn't spin up, you need a new PSU.
