Drive 0 not found: Serial ATA: SATA-0

My computer shown such message and i am wondering whether my data or info can be retrieve?

Drive 0 not found: Serial ATA: SATA-0 

Alert! Failed to detect one or more drives during POST.

Srike the F1 key to continue. F2 to run the setup utility. Press F5 to run diagnostics.

Please help..urgent

If you haven't tried, unplug the system and disconnect and reconnect the drive.  See if you can then see it.

If you can, you may be able to back it up.

If you cannot then see it, the only way you'll recover your data is by sending the drive to a recovery service -- these can work miracles on even badly crashed drives, but the price starts at about $600 and can rapidly escalate from there depending on what's needed to recover the data, so they're not exactly inexpensive options.

Exactly which PC model is this and what version of Windows?

ejn63 might be right that the hard drive failed, but...

Depending on PC and version of Windows, is it possible the SATA port setting in BIOS got changed (eg, reverted to the defaults)?

If Windows was installed with SATA drivers, eg with SATA Mode in BIOS set either to RAID or AHCI, and suddenly that setting reverted to ATA, which could happen if the motherboard battery is weak, you would probably get that same error message.

Again, depends on PC and version of Windows, but something else to consider...
