Drivers for an old computer.
Hello. I have this old Dell OptiPlex GX270 that I am trying to find the drivers for. The computer gave up the stopped running and the people that had the computer deleted everything and formated the hard drive. I found the problem. It was one of the dvd drives that was causing the problems. I reinstalled the operating system and found that I didn't have the driver that I needed to run the network card on the motherboard. I am on a wired network. I probably will need the other driver also. Right now, I am just wondering if there is some place to get the drivers that I need. I check to the Dell web site and was not able to get anything going. Any help on this would be apprecated. Thank you Chuck

HERE is the Dell downloads and the Windows XP drivers for this model (Dell only supports XP, not Vista or Windows 7).
There is a specific install sequence required for a successful install. (1) Install Windows (2) Install Desktop System Software on applicable models (3) Install motherboard chipset drivers (4) Install Device Drivers including Video, Dell sound driver, Ethernet, etc. The chipset drivers are key to the install and MUST be installed BEFORE installing device drivers.

The onboard nic can be disabled and you can use a PCI Network card to hook to internet and download all the drivers from the dell support site. Chipset drivers are recommended first followed by Audio then video drivers.
