Inspiron ONE 2305 - Power button is glowing amber, no beeps

All -

My 2305 has decided to quit booting.  Push the power button, you can hear the drives spinning, but no beeps from the POST, just a glowing amber light on the power button.  It will sit there forever like this.

I have tried replacing the SATA cable to an aftermarket SATA with clips, to no avail.

Thoughts on next steps?

According to the manual, a solid amber power button means there's been an error during the POST.

Try this:

  1. Power off and unplug
  2. Press/hold power button for ~15 sec
  3. Open case and remove motherboard battery
  4. Press/hold power button for ~30 sec
  5. Reinstall the battery (right-side-up!)
  6. Reboot with only mouse, monitor and keyboard connected

Did you find resolution to this question? I have the same problem, and doing the power button routine did not help me.

After taking of the back, I did get it to start once, and now it will not start again.

  • I have reseated memory and all cables.
  • Attempted to disconnect everything.
  • Started without memory sticks, did not get a beep indicating bios not starting.

That determined that it is NOT the video and IS the motherboard. Motherboard should post to bios with no hard drive only memory, video and power.

Please post what your resolution was.

Two questions:

1.  Where do you get a new internal Power supply for Inspiron One 2305? (Post Link)

2. How do you replace it?
