I've got a Dell Inspiron 2330 and once again my touchscreen is not working. First time round i restarted the PC and all was fixed, yet this time nothing has happened. What do i do? I get no error message or anything.
I am having the same problem. I updated the BIOS and it started working!! But it stopped again two days later. My Service Tag is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> . I started having this problem within ONE WEEK of taking my NEW Dell Inspiron One 2330 out of the box. When the touch screen does not work the "Tablet PC Settings" says "No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display".
Update: After a reboot, the touch screen still did not work. After I shut down the computer, unplugged the power cable for a few seconds, and plugged back and powered up, it now works. For how long, only time will tell. The Tablet PC Settings dialog box now reads Full Windows Touch Support.
Wish I had better news for you, but..........I purchased the 2330 All in one in February of this year and have had nothing but problems. Touchscreen constantly went out after numerous remote assists, Dell finally sent out a Technician to replace the LCD monitor. He came and I noticed within 30 minutes the sound wasn't working,(Tech says he hooked speakers up, Dell says No.) Within 1 hour, again after numerous remote assists the touchscreen stopped working again. Finally after much complaining they sent me a Brand new 2330. First week went pretty good, (that was week of April 2, 2013) then the Windows 8 wouldn't activate. Again after more numerous hours on remote assist they informed me that the activation code is on the mother board and they will have to replace it. This conversation was last Wednesday, just heard from the Dell Tech. about an hour ago (Tuesday April 16,2013) that he hasn't received the part yet, but it should be in today and he will try and make it to our house tomorrow. Trust me, I can appreciate your aggravation. I have decided that when this computer does get fixed, I am going to require Dell to give me another years free warranty beginning the day it is finally working properly. If not I will send it back and get a refund and probably buy a Hewlitt Packard. My sister has had an HP all in one touchscreen for 2 years with no problems. Wishing you the best, but I can assure you that you can't fix the problem yourself.
2nd. Chapter to my Dell All in one 2330. Am now beginning to prepare to return the 2nd. 2330 (the replacement for the 1st. one.) For some reason even after replacing the mother board on this 2330, Windows would still not activate. Spent 4, that's FOUR HOURS, on the phone with a Senior Dell tech, who worked to activate Windows 8. Had to return the computer back to factory default and reinstall everything. FOUR HOURS later we finally had it up and running. And as usual was absolutely reassured the problem was fixed and that was the end of it. WELL...............it worked for 3 hours and here it came again ACTIVATE WINDOWS notice. Sat, cried and went to bed. Now I just don't know what to do, I will have to send this computer back, and don't know if they will replace with a 32rd. one. Problem is, sure I can give up touchscreen and windows 8, but after working with them so much the last 2 months, I have pretty much figured them all out and I love this computer. JUST WANT IT TO WORK RIGHT. Signed Tears, In Virginia:emotion-12:

I made the mistake of ordering the touch screen. I have had it for 5 months and am not able to return it as Dell will not accept it as a returned item. The problem has existed from the start and I just thought it was my old age eye sight not the screen or computer. But I kept straining to read things with the white background and finally asked my wife what she thought. She immediately responded that the screen is blurry. I called dell and they replaced the LCD - no change. They then returned and replaced the mother board that also had the video card on it. The screen was better but still was blurry with a haze and still difficult for me to read.
I was told by a best buy geek that Dell has placed a covering over the touch screen, probably for its protection, and that that covering is why it is blurry, hazy and not crisp and clear like I would expect. Of course Dell techs deny that there is anything on it but I have seen the difference with other monitors both Dell and Sony and Apple. No comparison, the Dell I have is the worst of the worst. No doubt there is a problem with this screen and I am too old to keep straining to look at a computer screen every day that I need for work. Dell will not exchange it for the non-touch screen so I guess I will have to throw it into the dumpster and go buy one that has a glass screen with no coverings. To think I have bought and used many Dells over the years but will never do it again cause they will not take care of the problem.
I had previously written about my 2330 Dell touch screen being blurry and extremely hard to see. Finally, after months Dell replaced it with a non-touch screen 27 inch all in one (refurbished) that works perfectly. The problem, whatever it was for me and others, has to deal with the touch screen technology Dell is using. And guess what? They know that! I am glad they finally accepted my complaint and took care of the problem.
I have a similar issue but worst, when I work and power down my PCM and try to Stuart up my Inspiron one 2330 touch screen all in one.... The pc power up button go one but the screen stay black and to not switch on! I did unplug the pc and let it stand for 24 hours and then powered up as normal, but again if I switch down and try start up again, the screen do not switch on......what can I do.
I am having the same problem with mine now! It has to have something to do with the sleep/screen/saver/hibernate power stuff. It has to be correlated with the touch screen problems too.
Mine initially has had issues with not automatically going to sleep since day one. Yabba Dabba Abi couldn't figure it out even w remote access, and I don't have enough time in my life to waste hrs on the computer or phone with a horrible 1980's sizzling sound connection with India so I just let it go.
Well all of a sudden my touch screen just stopped. And it appears that my computer doesn't even acknowledge that I bought a touchscreen to begin with. It doesn't' even exist anymore "no pen or touch available" Um I bought a fricken touch screen!! Where the F&%k did it go? I paid extra for it.
Now its doing the wacky power issues poster above me is talking about. It gets stuck in a black screen in screen save or sleep mode. Then sometimes after manually powering off and turning back on screen does not come back to life. The computer is running, nothing is showing. But the Dell icon DOES pop up on screen and I can toggle the button to switch to HDMI. So it has to be a connection between processor and screen.
I was almost positive it was a software issue, but now I think its a hardware issue with a faulty USB thingamabob or a sensitive screen connection or faulty hardware in the touchscreen to processor integration. Or the hardrive is actually a POS.
Any suggestions? I am at wits end. Thinking about spending 42hrs with Dell this week and paying the extra cash so they can do stupid stuff like download old drivers or new drivers that won't fix it. But I have spent hrs this week trying to fix this. I even reset my computer to factory settings and turn off updates to see if it was a windows update issue. Stopped going into sleep mode again. then an hour ago the touch screen literally disappeared from the computer again. no pen or touch. I watched a restart and then it happen right before my eyes. I was updating mcAfee. So maybe its a system virus protection related issue too, but that would be stupid.
I certainly will not buy directly from Dell again. I will probably buy a Toshiba or Mac next time Heck even an HP>.
