Hi nightowlqueen,

You may drain out the residual power from the system by following steps below :

  • Power Off the computer.
  • Disconnect all the cables and peripheral devices (printer, flash drives etc) from the computer
  • Press and hold the power button for 4-5 seconds so as to drain the residual power from the computer.
  • Connect all the cables to the computer again and try to power on the computer.

If the issue persists, you may try the following steps :

  • Try replacing the batteries in the wireless combo and synchronize them with the computer.
  • You may try to connect the USB keyboard onto a different USB port on the computer.
  • You may try the front USB ports on the system as well.

If the issue persists, please reply with the model number of the Logitech wireless combo you are using with the system.

Hope this helps. Do reply with the findings.

1st: Try opening the system to seeing if there is dust or something in the computer IO pannel at the back.

2nd: plug in the usb in the a diffrent port if not working.

3rd: try reconnecting the usb set

4th: Try the usb ports on the front

If none of those work go to a computer tech and see if they can give a hand.

Thank you so much Sundeep B - you're a genius and a lifesaver!   Draining the power, disconnnecting everything and then re-starting, did the job, which is great because Logitech had already sent me a new wireless combo under my guarantee and so knew that wasn't the issue!

Many thanks for your (super fast) help with this.

Forgot to ask, out of curiousity, do you know why this event occurred in the first place?

Hi nightowlqueen,

I am glad that the issue has been resolved.

At times, when we shut down the computer, some electric charge gets stuck in the capacitors on the circuitry, which may cause issues with the computer. The steps provided earlier help in draining this residual charge.

Let me know if you need further assistance or information. I will be happy to help.
