Dell's have a history of memory compatibility, no specific pattern, except for the Kingston "Value Ram" type (what you have) which has been problematic - some memory can work in one and not in another of the same model.  For that reason most of the techies on here recommend Crucial Memory as it is one brand of non-Dell memory that is guaranteed to work in Dell's.  The 4700 also requires 1.8 volt memory.

HERE is the Crucial Memory listing for the 4700.

You should install matching pairs of 1 GB PC2-4200 (DDR2-533 MHz) DIMMs seeing that the North Bridge on the 0M3918 supports DDR-333 SDRAM, DDR-400 SDRAM, DDR2-400 SDRAM & DDR2-533 SDRAM.

I have the same motherboard and I have four 1 GB Corsair Value Select VS1GB533D2 installed and I'd recommend them if you haven't got your new RAM already.

DDRij-333 SDRAM, DDR-400 SDRAM, DDR2-400 SDRAM, DDR2-533 SDRAM
