You really don't want to put any money into this system and make it the best it can be.  It uses old memory, old CPUs and does not have a PCI Express x16 slot for a video card.  You should just sell it and upgrade.  I had a GX280 and it had PCIe x16 so it was not too bad and used DDR2 memory.  However, I recently sold it and bought an Optiplex 745.  My upgrade cost was only $25.  In this situation, I went from a P4 CPU to a Core 2 Duo and from XP to Windows 7.  I paid $100 for the 745 and sold the GX280 for $75.  I only paid $80 for it 2 years ago.  You'll be much better off to upgrade and you'll save money too.

I agree ... the Optiplex GX620 can be had for $70 postpaid on eBay, and it has a PCIe 16x slot, DDR2 memory and a 64-bit CPU.

Hi Michael,

It would help if you posted your specs. What form factor? Unless it the minitower, your upgrade list is going to be extremely limited.

P.S.  What would be your best suggestion for a used entertainment / gaming system to attach to a 55" HDTV"?

Thanks!

I believe it is a mini-tower; it measures 15.25" x 17" x 4.25".  What I was looking to do was to turn it into an entertainment / gaming PC attached to my TV.  In light of the other responses.  It appears I would be better off selling this system, and purchasing something else.  Thanks to those who responded!

You could have upgraded that to q6600 for $25 more (quad core, 2.4ghz). I've personally ran that config on 745 sff

The OptiPlex 320 has a PCIe-x16 slot and is compatible with Core 2 Duo CPUs, unlike some of the earlier machines. I'm not impressed with the performance of the GX620 for such purposes.

Compared to a GX260 though the GX620 with Pentium D is a screamer.
