Studio XPS 435 MT, Realtek ALC888 HD Audio, red x, driver?
I have an Studio XPS 435 MT - got it in 2009. The speaker icon in the system notification area has a red error sign on it. I am thinking that if I re-install the driver(s) everything will be ok. I just can't find the driver. Maybe here on the Dell site.
Thanks for your help.

Got it. It was the driver. The only thing I can say is that you have to remove the existing driver files before you actually install. I am listening to the Police.
Thanks,
Steven

Thanks, but I have a problem with the link you gave me. There are only two drivers under Audio, and they are both recent ones for Creative, not Realtek. Appreciate the help, though.

Realtek is the one I think is in my machine, Studio XP 435. I think it is on the motherboard.
I installed a suggested driver and it do anything. Can anyone think of anything else? If I bring it into repair it's going to be replacing the mb.
Thanks for your help,
Steven

Well, I tried the first one, but it didn't work. There are two tabs on that page: to look at current configuration or to look at the original configuration (drivers). Maybe I'll try one of the other ones, unless the different "formats" are the same version. It said right on the page that it is compatible with my machine. A Realtek Asomething.

The Studio XPS 435 MT has the onboard Realtek ALC888 HD Audio. We only offered a Vista driver for it which is why you do not see it under Windows 7. What operating system are you running? We could assume by your username but must ask. Did you check in the Bios for Integrated Audio? If found, was it Enabled?

I am running Win7 x64 SP1 (post-installed) on a 2009 machine. It's a good machine.
