T1650 - memory beep codes with RDIMM
I just got a T1650 (Xeon E3-1240v2 3.4GHz), and tried to upgrade the memory with Kingston KTD-PE316K4/32G (4*8GB reg ECC).
I get the 1-3-2 beep codes for any combination of the new RDIMMs, but the single UDIMM that came with the system is OK.
BIOS is A04.
Is registered not supported for this config (the "select" dialog allows RDIMM with this CPU).

Hi Dubbah,
The beep pattern 1-3-2; tells you that the computer encountered a memory problem
Other useful information about the memory:
As mentioned you have 4*8GB reg ECC and these are all RDIMMs. This machine architecture is designed to support UDIMMs. For further clarification on ECC and NONECC configurations; you can follow the grid provided below:
Memory Configurations
ECC UDIMM Memory
32GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR3, 1600 MHz
16GB (4 x 4 GB) DDR3, 1600 MHz
8GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3, 1600 MHz
8GB (4 x 2 GB) DDR3, 1600 MHz
8GB (4 x 2 GB) DDR3, 1333 MHz
4GB1 (2 x 2 GB) DDR3, 1600 MHz
4GB1 (2 x 2 GB) DDR3, 1333 MHz
Non-ECC Memory (NECC)
16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3, 1600 MHz
8GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3, 1600 MHz
8GB (4 x 2 GB) DDR3, 1600 MHz
4GB1 (2 x 2 GB) DDR3, 1600 MHz,
2GB (1 x 2 GB) DDR3, 1600 MHz,
NOTE:
1The total amount of available memory will be less than 4GB. The amount less depends on the actual system configuration. To fully utilize 4GB or more of memory requires a 64-bit enabled processor and 64-bit operating system

The Dell configuration page for the T1650 allows RDIMMs to be selected with Xeon processors - is this a mistake on the Dell page?

I realize that it's been a few months since the last activity on this thread, but it seems that I've made a critical mistake. We've got seven Precision T-1650s that I had planned to upgrade to 32GB each of 1333/ECC. Well, I didn't like the price that I saw on the RAM selector screen at Crucial ($200+ for 8GB*2), so I went out to Newegg. I found some Kingston 8GB sticks and proceeded order 28 of them. Now I'm getting the 1-3-2 beep code. I have RDIMMS instead of UDIMMS. I do have Xeons in each of them, so I would be very interested to know whether the T-1650s can use RDIMMS via some memory channel adjustment, but I didn't see that in the BIOS. Any suggestions that you have would be very much appreciated. I haven't called Newegg back yet, but their support site says that they won't accept any returns for orders of 10 or more of a specific product. I really hope that I don't have to eat the cost on this. Please advise.
