I wouldn't install a fan utiltity in that system.  You have a great workstation and you are taking a risk on missing it up.  If anything how about installing a PCI fan inside the system to blow on the cards?  They have some that have adjustable speed and work really well.

Thanks for your reply, a PCI fan is out becuase I have something in every slot, so no room left, but in the last part of my message I was wondering if there is a fan kit to place in the 2 fan openings above and behind the memory, some more air there might be the solution, I just need to check the parts site to see if there is a kit.

Hey I also have the T5400 and when I put in a second graphics card I found my main one was running hotter then I wanted so I ran to Circuitcity yesterday and grabbed a Antec 80mm fan and put it on the back. It helped lower my graphics card a couple degrees but not much. It mounts easily on the back with the four screwes supply with the fan.

You will might as well try it, it can't hurt and there is room on the back of the T5400 for 2 80mm fans.  I wouldn't hook it up though to the hard drive power jack on the motherboard. I would hook it up to the 4 pin power connector comming out of your power supply.

Most of the Antec fans use the 4 pin and allow you to connect another 4 pin to it incase you are currently using it for something. You might as well try it the fan is only $8. It did it and it's helping a little. You can always buy a speed adjuster if you want to slow  the fan down.

Hi, I know this is an old post, but I am having a similar issue.

With two quad 5460, two SATA drives, a Perc5i and a 4670 video card, I am getting CPU temps ~44C, RAM ~ 60-70 C, and video ~ 65C !!

I am planning to put two 80mm fans in the back pushing air out, based on my front fan pulling in (original poster reported that his front fan was blowing OUT, not in like mine, not sure what's default).

I haven't opened the case recently, but is there space for a 38mm or only a 25mm deep ? Any specific recommendation for a model with efficient airflow for relatively low noise?

Thanks,

 Max
